The day is approaching, and this is my final weekend in San Francisco, where I have been living for more than 10 years. Starting next Thursday, I’ll start (or restart, whatever it will be) a new life in Macau.

Last night, I, along with five of my best friends and IDTV crew members, gathering at the Cava 22 restaurant for a farewell dinner. I’m very pleased that they could all make it and come to see me one last time. At the restaurant, we were drinking, we were chatting and we had a lot of fun. Of course, I was the main character last night, they were asking me what I’m going to do in Macau, what does Macau look like, and how is the climate of Macau, etc. Then each of them encouraged me to start my new life in Macau. One said the economy over the Greater China region (that includes the Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau) is generally growing, especially in Macau, the economy is boosting like a rocket, in contrast to the US, where the economy is not growing and even shrinking and with a lot of uncertainties. The thing is when the economy is growing, people have extra money. When people have got extra money, people will likely look for some people to do something great, then I’ll get a lot of opportunities to work on anything. He also told me that I have a number of unique advantage that not many people have. He said there’s not a lot of Asian, Chinese, and even someone who is Macau working on media production industry in the US. I know the people in the industry and some people have already known who I’m and what I’m doing. As a Chinese or Macanese, being in America is not easy already, but I could make myself into the circle of the US media industry in just two years and build up a professional network here, there’s only very few people can actually do that. I know, and I also have that feeling too because I came to the SuperMeet, the biggest annual networking event for professional video producers, editors, motion graphic artists, animators, etc. What I saw right there, there was very small number of video professionals who has an Asian face, and I’m the one of them, I should feel proud of myself. Another friend was also pointing out my advantage, he said I have been living here in the US for a decade, and I speak fluent English, I know the people who works in media production industry in San Francisco, I know how San Francisco looks like. With all of that I could play a role of a bridge between media production industry in San Francisco and media production industry in Macau.
I know I’m still having questions and doubts about my new life in Macau, but they were all telling me the same thing, don’t be afraid, don’t be freaked out. As my other friend saying, the things right now seem negative but it will actually become positive. Sure I think it will be!
Generally speaking I have worked in the media production industry and am able to make my name in there in a short period of time, I have got a professional network in the US, I’m talented and I have bunch of skills, so I’m not actually going to Macau with empty-handed. Yes, I know, I don’t have a lot of money, but I have a bunch of unique advantages and essential knowledge for the media production industry, then what should I afraid of?
Thank you for all my friends who came to see me one last time and saying goodbye to me last night, I know I’ll be missing all of you, you’re the most fantastic people who I have met or worked with. I’ll never forget all the good time we had, and I would just want to say once again – Thank you, thank you very much.

Let’s keep in touch, my friends, soon I’ll be seeing you and give my support to all of you 6900 miles away, on the other side of Pacific Ocean. Come visit me in Macau, and I’ll be your guide. All right?
BTW, I’ll be missing her too…
